PL CREW, one of Africa’s biggest gospel bands based in Ghana has unveiled its new LOGO today. The band has shared the same stage with top notch international and local artist including KIRK FRANKLIN, FRED HAMMOND, VASHAWN MITHELL, RON KENOLY, JUANITA BYNUM, KIRK WHALUM, CWESI OTENG, SONNIE BADU, JOE METTLE.
The CEO of the band, SANAA OPOKU AGYEMANG has mentioned that the group is reaching higher heights and moving unto international platforms and that has fueled the need to enhance their image and brand hence the new logo. He uttered that recently, the band’s production for some international artists has gained a lot of radio rotation especially in Europe and the USA and that has increased their demand on the marketplace globally. The band was over the Easter weekend spotted in Takoradi nailing it at the THANKSGIVING 2014 TOUR organized by the God’s Family Music Ministry.
The purple themed LOGO has the alphabets P and L fused together in the middle and enclosed in an emblem with its date of inception beneath it and a cross on top of it. PL CREW which fully stands for PRAISE LEVITES CREW has taken the game to another level and we seek the grace of God upon their lives and wish them the best in all their endeavors. A few months ago, JOYFUL WAY INCORPORATED, a non-denominational evangelistic group that spreads the gospel through contemporary music served a letter to the new face of Ghana’s mainstream gospel and VGMA multiple nominee JOYCE BLESSING for copyright infringement against the group. The issue was amicably settled and now the ‘HEAVY PRICE’ hit singer has the freedom to use the song nyame eguama which was recorded originally by the group in 1994 on all platforms.
Information reaching us allegedly indicates that JOYOUS CELEBRATION is next to be dragged to court by JOYFUL WAY INC for another copyright infringement. JOYOUS CELEBRATION being one of Africa’s esteemed recording choirs based in South Africa has carelessly recorded a song belonging to JOYFUL WAY INC “osabarima” in their annual live recording. The song recorded by joyful way in 1994 happens to appear in their 2014 JOYOUS 18 LIVE DVD RECORDING and trust me, they had it right with the harmonies. In other parts of the world, renditions are done to hit songs but with consent from the originator and it goes a long way to promote the song and adds value to the copyright owner besides it’s all about propagating the gospel.
Could it be that a member from Joyful way taught them the song on their visit to Ghana last year? Or they just learnt the song upon hearing joyful way perform it at the same concert joyous celebration was invited? Well, i think recording artists should respect investments made by their colleagues and do what is necessary of them if they want to record someone’s song. Till we hear from Joyful way on this matter, click the button below to enjoy the tune.

Not so long ago, there has been sounds banging “ Songs in the night” and upon trying to know what it’s all about, a name popped up “Akesse Brempong” who was deep into preparations for the release for his debut album – Songs in the Night. Glory be to God for great and mighty things He has done. The album release Concert came off Sunday, 6th April 2014 at the Pentecost International Worship Center (PIWC) – Dansoman SSNIT Flats.
Just at exactly 4pm, all was set for the concert to take off and surprisingly enough, the number that trooped in at the venue was likely to cause a stampede because all could not wait to catch a glimpse of the set up for the night. The Concert commenced with a tremendous choir ministration by E’mpraise Incorporated preparing God’s people in the mood of readiness and with much expectations of what would be next. Right afterwards, the MC for the night, Fifi Folson humbly invited Eugene Zuta up the stage.
As the minister began his ministration, the auditorium was already filled with the thick presence of God. Eugene Zuta took the congregation to an even more intense place of worship with his sweet vocal delivery of his tune “WOSO”, where everybody in the place felt of touching the sky. As if that was not enough, Braa Kweku known for all arts came in with his dynamic poetic ministration leaving all in the state of astonishment appreciating the gift for the night – “Songs in the Night”.
The man behind the reason for the night, making Ghana proud with his hit single “Crazy Love” taken a seat at the number 10 spot of Gospel Innovation’s world top 20 Gospel Chart, Akesse Brempong came in also with his initial ministrations , charging the whole auditorium. Then after, Cwesi Oteng, a prolific songwriter and inspirational icon with a unique brand took up the stage. His performance on “God Dey Bless Me” swept the audience of their feet all to the glory of God. The concert also featured the like of Qhakrah, Sollo, Fafa, Esaias as well as the next generation gospel ministers and many others.
Act after act, song after song, note after note, it would be incomplete if Akesse Brempong didn’t perform his most-liked and hit single – “Crazy Love” which left many yearning for more but almost five hours in the concert was enough making it a memorable one which definitely would impact generations.
